Egypt’s stocks market posted strong gains on Wednesday, ahead of a one-day start of Eid al-Fitr holidays, supported by proactive buying from foreign investment institutions and funds, amid strong expectations for the market during the second half of this year.
Market capitalization of listed companies gained 4.8 billion pounds to 907.3 billion pounds.
The main stock index EGX30 rose 1.51% to 16,178.28 points.
The EGX70 index of small and medium-sized shares gained 0.54% to 802.87 points. The gains extended to the broader EGX100 index, gaining 0.62% to end the day at 2048.64 points.
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Stock Exchange is on an official holiday on Sunday and Monday on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and to resume its activity next Tuesday.
