A number of high-profile religious leaders hailed the strong bond prevailing in the Egyptian community, saying that the unity between the country’s Muslims and Copts is a typical example of the real patriotism.
The announcement comes in a meeting between Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, Chairman of the Syndicate of Al Ashraf (descendants of the Prophet Muhammad of Islam) Mahmoud el Sherif and Head of the Evangelical Church in Egypt Andrea Zaki in Saint Catherine’s Monastery.
During the meeting, Gomaa clarified that his ministry is interested in holding periodic meetings with representatives of the Egyptian church to propagate the values of patriotism and interaction between Muslims and Copts.
For his part, Sherif said the meeting is a real reflection of the social coexistence and sends a message of peace from Sinai to the whole world that Egypt enjoys security, peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Zaki described the gathering as a vivid example of co-existence, asserting that Egyptian Muslims and Copts are united.
