Presidential Spokesman, Ambassador Bassam Rady, said on Sunday that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a telephone call from his Tanzanian counterpart, John Magufuli.
President El-Sisi expressed appreciation for the historical relations between Egypt and Tanzania, praising the level of their bilateral relations, especially with regard to economic cooperation and trade exchange, and praising in this regard the Egyptian investments in Tanzania.
Meanwhile, the Tanzanian President invited President El-Sisi to lay the foundation stone of the dam Stiegler’s Gorge، which will be constructed by Egypt’s Al Moqaweloon Al Arab Company.
In the phone call President El-Sisi said the construction of the dam will be performed in a way that will make Tanzania, Egypt and the African continent proud، exemplifying African cooperation، according to Egypt Today.
The dam will be built on the Basin of Rufiji River as an important national project to generate power.
Magufuli expressed his appreciation of the historic relations between the two nations، and applauded economic cooperation and trade exchange، as well as Egyptian investments in Tanzania.
El-Sisi was the first Egyptian president to visit Tanzania in August 2017 since 1968.
