Qatar has recently asked Israel to publicly support its efforts to improve the situation in the Gaza Strip as a condition for transferring the second installment of funds to Gaza, the Jewish Walla website reported on Thursday.
According to the website, the “surprising” tweet of Israeli ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, came as a result of the Qatari demand.
The site pointed out that the Qatar Embassy in Belgium and the United States re-published the tweet in which Dermer thanked Qatar for its efforts in Gaza and hoped to reach a long-term agreement.
According to the website – as quoted by Israeli sources – Doha wants public support from Israel for its steps in Gaza.
The website said stressed that when Qatar re-tweeted the Israeli Ambassador to Washington, it said that “Qatar is committed to finding a solution to Gaza and working hand in hand with Israel and the United Nations to protect human rights and dignity for the Palestinians”.
