President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi received on Thursday Head of Production Planning for Germany at Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. Mr. Markus Schaefer, with the presence of Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar.
Presidential spokesman, Ambassador Bassam Rady, stated that the President affirmed Egypt’s openness to cooperate with Mercedes Benz in light of the state’s policy towards expansion in the automotive industry, especially in view of the broad experience of the German company in this field.
President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s interest of Egypt to discuss opportunities for cooperation with the German company in the field of manufacturing electric cars in various categories, in line with the state’s tendency to deploy the use of those vehicles that are environmentally friendly, which does not consume traditional fuel sources.
For his part, Schaefer expressed his gratitude to meet the President, explaining that Mercedes-Benz has a long history in the Egyptian market, stressing the company’s keenness to continue the constructive dialogue to strengthen cooperation relations with Egypt.
Ambassador Bassam Rady added that during the meeting also tackled the possibility of joint cooperation with the German company in the field of manufacturing self-driving smart vehicles to be ready for use in the new cities, especially the new administrative capital.
