At the beginning of the winter season, certain governmental institutions have started preparations on Saturday to protect agricultural lands and residential communities from the impact of flash floods.
The Ministry of Agriculture & Land Reclamation has spread equipment in the North Coast, and border governorates to dig up channels to prevent water accumulation and be directed to lower areas outside villages, and streams.
That is in addition to building sand walls in cooperation with residents to protect houses and crops, especially in Northern governorates.
The equipment include 190 excavators, 53 loaders, 47 suction vehicles, 22 lorries, and 367 tractors, and 18 dump trucks.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources established follow-up committees, activated emergency centers, maintained and cleared flood control channels, updated the list of villages and residential areas at risk.
Moreover; the ministry lowered water levels in drainage basins directing their content to the Nile River, and controlled water levels of barrages.
