President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi received on Thursday Algerian counterpart Abdelkader Ben Saleh, in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
Presidential spokesman Ambassador Bassam Rady said that the President welcomed Ben Saleh to Egypt on his first visit abroad, praising the distinguished levels of brotherly relations between the two countries, especially with regard to enhancing channels of effective communication between the two sides at the economic level, maximizing the volume of trade exchange and increasing inter-investment.
For his part, the Algerian president affirmed his country’s pride in its ties with Egypt in close and distinguished relations at the official and popular levels.
He praised Egypt’s achievements in the past years in the fields of security, stability and development, which led to its restoration of its leading role on the regional and international levels, and the positive future implications for joint African and Arab action, and efforts to reach political settlements to the existing crises in the region.
In addition, President Ben Saleh congratulated the leadership and people of Egypt for the remarkable success in hosting and organizing the African Cup of Nations.
He expressed his gratitude for the spirit of good brotherhood, hospitality and welcome enjoyed by Algerian fans since their arrival in Egypt to support their national team.
For his part, the President expressed his sincere wishes for the Algerian national team in the African Cup of Nations final, praising the performance of the Algerian team throughout the tournament, as well as the sportsmanship and national sense that characterized it.
The spokesman said that the meeting discussed means of enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of economy, trade and investment exchange, in addition to security and information exchange, especially in view of the many common challenges facing both sides.
