The state’s new waste management system will bring about a significant shift in citizens’ daily lives in Egypt, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said on Tuesday.
It will reduce environmental deterioration and light pollution, he added.
According to the new system, waste will be collected, treated and recycled, Rady told the national Extra News channel on Tuesday evening.
He noted that residual waste will be buried in sanitary landfills.
It is a fully-integrated system resembling those followed by developed countries, the spokesman said.
The system will be initially implemented in five governorates, which were selected during a meeting held by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to discuss this issue.
