Egyptian Football Association (EFA) head Amr El-Ganainy has revealed on Tuesday that applying the VAR in the domestic competition has not yet been approved by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), and the EFA will contact the accredited companies from FIFA to implement the VAR as soon as possible.
“We will contact the IFAB and are awaiting approval. We are also preparing at the same time a training programme for the referees to be ready to apply the VAR as soon as possible,” El-Ganainy told reporters.
“We are communicating in the mean time with FIFA’s accredited companies in order to make a bid, as the costs of a single game is estimated between $4,000 to $6,000, and I’m sure that we will reach a better price,” he added.
The head of the Normalisation Committee, which directs the EFA temporarily, has assured that the VAR will be applied in all games, and added that the football association is working on unifying balls in the domestic matches.
