President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi met with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Tuesday within the framework of Rome’s mediation efforts to discuss all sides of the Libyan crisis and available solutions, according to a statement released by presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady.
President El-Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt’s firm stance over supporting Libya’s stability and security and backing of the Libyan national army to combat terrorism and terrorist organizations that pose threats to Libya and regional security of the Middle East region as well.
He also rejected all forms of foreign interference in Libya’s internal affairs.
Conte, for his part, said Italy seeks to reach a solution for the Libyan crisis that threatens the security of the region entirely, urging to restore stability in Libya.
Earlier on Monday, the Italian agency Nova noted that Conte is also visiting Turkey before heading to Egypt, where he will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan & discuss the Libyan file.
