Minister of Defence Mohamed Zaki and Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohamed Farid received on Monday in Cairo the commander of the United States Central Command General Kenneth McKenzie and an accompanying delegation to discuss strategic cooperation between Egypt and the United States.
“The meeting reviewed the Egyptian Armed Forces’ efforts to eliminate terrorism and achieve safety and stability in Egypt and the Middle East, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest in light of strategic cooperation to achieve the common interest of Egypt and the United States,” a statement by Egypt’s Armed Forces spokesperson said.
The commander of the USCC affirmed the US’ keenness on pushing forward strategic cooperation between Egypt and the US Armed Forces.
Chief of Staff Farid discussed with the US commander a number of issues of mutual interest including military cooperation and joint trainings between the Egyptian and the US army, topped by the ‘Bright Star’ drills.
The meeting was attended by a number of the Armed Forces commanders and the US ambassador in Cairo.
