Minister of Endowments Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said on Tuesday that cooperation between Awqaf female scholars and the nuns, through the National Council for Women (NCW), in a number of national awareness issues has won massive global applause.
Gomaa was addressing a symposium organized by the Egyptian mission to the United Nations on the sidelines of “Protecting Youth from Extremist and Violent Ideologies”, which is being held by the Muslim World League on February 18-19.
The Minister of Endowments added in a statement that the cooperation experience between the female scholars and the nuns, along with other Egyptian experiences in boosting the religious coexistence, was praised by the participants of the symposium who wanted to emulate it in their countries.
Egypt’s Mufti Shawqi Allam, the head of the parliament’s Religious Affairs and Endowments Committee, Osama el Abd, and Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Alaa Youssef along with several UN envoys and international dignitaries were present at symposium.
Meanwhile, Gomaa met a number of Arab ambassadors at the residence of Ambassador Youssef to discuss a set of Arab issues.
