President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Sunday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Ministers of Defense and Military Production, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Finance, Health and Population, in the presence of Presidential Adviser on Health and Prevention, and head of the Medical Services Department of the Armed Forces.
Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Rady stated that the meeting dealt with following up the situation nationwide with regard to the measures taken to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus, as well as the overall implications in this regard.
During the meeting, the President expressed appreciation to all health workers in Egypt, who are at the forefront of the country’s efforts to tackle the virus.
In this context, President El-Sisi directed that the medical profession allowance be increased by 75% over the present value, including doctors working in university hospitals, at a total cost of about L.E. 2.25 billion, in addition to creating a risk fund for medical professionals.
The head of the state also ordered the issuance of exceptional rewards to all employees currently working in quarantine in all govern orates of Egypt, provided that these exceptional rewards be paid out from the “Long Live Egypt” fund.
In addition, the President stressed that combating the spread of the Corona virus is an essential issue worldwide, calling for solidarity and collective awareness to achieve the highest levels of coordination and harmony among all the concerned state agencies, as well as citizens, in managing this crisis.
During the meeting, the President gave his directives to work on completing any shortage of medical supplies and medical human cadres in various health centers in Egypt.
The Prime Minister reviewed the government’s efforts to return the Egyptians stranded abroad, with an emphasis on taking all precautionary and preventive measures upon their arrival in Egypt to ensure that they are not infected with the virus.
