Al-Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb extended greetings to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as well as a number of Arab and world leaders on the occasion of Mid al-Fitr.
During a phone call, the Grand Imam praised the President’s efforts to defend the country as well as maintaining peace and security nationwide in addition to preventive measures taken to face coronavirus pandemic.
El-Tayeb expressed his appreciation for the state of human solidarity undertaken by Egypt led by President El-Sisi with friendly countries in the face of this pandemic.
In addition, the Grand Imam exchanged congratulations on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr via phone with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
During the phone call, el-Tayeb expressed his gratitude to the role played by the Bahranian King in disseminating the values of coexistence and peace, and supporting the initiatives of the human brotherhood, as well as the efforts of his majesty to serve the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations.
Moreover, El-Tayeb sent a cable of congratulation to Jordan King Abdullah II Bin Hussein where he expressed appreciation for Jordan’s role in serving the Arab and Islamic nation’s issues, especially the Jordanian King’s stances towards the Palestinian issue, in addition to his efforts to spread the culture of dialogue in the Arab and Islamic worlds.
For his part, King Abdullah affirmed Jordan’s appreciation for Al-Azhar and the Grand Imam, praising the efforts led by the el-Tayeb in spreading the values of tolerance and brotherhood, confronting extremist ideas, disseminating moderation, and correct concepts of the provisions of religion, asking God to return Eid al-Fitr on Muslims and the whole world with goods and blessings.
