Al Azhar will organize an international conference on “Jerusalem or Al Quds” on Wednesday with the aim to emphasize the Arab and Islamic identity of the city of Jerusalem, according to a statement by Al Azhar on Saturday
Officials from Al-Azhar said that the two-day event will shed light on the international responsibility toward the holy city, which is currently under Israeli occupation.
The statement noted that participants will focus on international law, which obliges the Israeli occupation force to maintain the situation as it is on the ground and not to impose new alleged facts.
The conference comes in response to the US decision to move its embassy to “Al Quds” or Jerusalem as a capital of Israel.
A number of important recommendations should be reached at the end of the event.
